FAQs
1What is hemodialysis?
Hemodialysis is a therapy that filters waste, removes extra fluid and balances electrolytes. The blood is removed and filtered through a man-made membrane called artificial kidney or dialyzer, and then filtered blood is returned to the body.
2What is In-House Hemodialysis in Skilled Nursing Facility?
Hemodialysis is given in the SNF’s designated dialysis den. Dialysis is rendered by a licensed dialysis RN and PCT under the supervision of your nephrologist. Treatment is given three a week over 3 to 4 hours in duration. Dialysis care and treatments are all inclusive with dietary counsel and social worker support. Monthly and mid-month blood samples are drawn and collected and sent to the laboratory.
